ROV + AI Mission Companion: A Smarter Way to Operate Underwater

At Trident Subsea Systems, we are developing more than compact ROV platforms. Our approach pairs the subsea vehicle with a dedicated AI Mission Companion — a topside processing system designed to handle the intelligence workload in real time.

While the pilot remains focused on flying the ROV, the AI Mission Companion can independently process the incoming video and sensor streams, supporting real-time object detection and classification, automatic target tracking, vision enhancement, and mission-specific analytics.

The concept is simple: the ROV collects the data; the AI Mission Companion helps turn that data into actionable information. The processing layer can be configured around the mission, target and operating environment rather than being limited to one fixed application.

From subsea inspection and environmental monitoring to search, survey and future autonomous functions, the objective is to reduce pilot workload while increasing real-time situational awareness.
